Fall Forward with Jennie @ YourBestSelfStylist

For me, to “Fall forward,” means more than just the changing of the wall-mounted clocks in my house, and my favorite Sunsets starting an hour earlier. Right now, it means that I am allowing the Universe to move me into the next level of almost everything in my life…

When I think of the word falling, it reminds me that it requires trust- like the ropes courses you do in Junior High or Highschool for team building… where you have to trust that your teammates will catch you when you let yourself fall off the plank, in total surrender.

It also requires letting go of fear. Fear can no longer be in the equasion if we are going to move forward. I can feel myself getting butterflies in my tummy as I leap off the edge of my previous experiences and fall forward, into the abyss of the unknown and the yet to be discovered higher vibrations of my life.

As I allow the Universe’s nudges to move forward into new levels, so I allow this Season to lead me into new silhouettes and combinations I haven’t done before. With rich bohemian textures and patterns available on the ready, I am lead down a path where the old is new and new is old again. Take a peak at what combinations I’m working with this new season.

Remember that favorite lace romper you bought at the beginning of summer? It’s time to re-mix it with a suede belt, chunky necklace, kimono jacket and platform shoes in rich cognac or chocolate brown.

This Fall try lace and leather for the perfect pairing. Lace offsets the heavy feeling of the leather and creates a gorgeous juxtaposition. Use it this season to brighten up your rich fall pieces!

This romper by Stone Cold Fox here. Kimono by Reformation sold out. Necklaces by the lovely Lisa Statt here, and more here. Shoes by AGL, similar here, and here. Clutch and shoes found at Allora by Laura in Montecito.

This next look is inspired by the 70’s trend that started in the Spring and will continue, full swing, into the remainder of 2015. The cooler temps (if that ever happens!) are the best for this look because of the focus on leather, suede, denim, and faux fur which don’t do well in the heat!

Try your favorite Peasant Top with a midi suede skirt like the one I’m wearing for a total throwback look. This ‘lil purple number is a vintage find I got in LA when I was in college. Classic styles like this don’t ever go out. And if they do, it’s only for a moment, until they recycle a couple years later.

A smart purchase this Fall would be a fun ditsy floral peasant top with kimono, flared, or ruffled sleeves. Find other great tops here, here, here, and here.

I also recommend purchasing some kind of suede skirt- this will become a staple for getting dressed up this Season. I am loving mini’s and midi’s for a modern look. Check these out: one, two, three!

These shoes found here.

Hey Fall, me and my faux fur jackets are coming for you!

Another trend you will see everywhere this Fall is Denim, Denim, and more Denim. From denim boots, and jackets, to denim tops and accessories, it’s all about the blue jean baby.

These mom jeans (and major mom butt), are a staple of mine because of their high rise (which allows me to wear crop tops and tucked in tees), and their straight leg (which looks amazing with heels).

May you find yourself reaching new heights in every way.

And a special thanks to one of my best friends, Jessica Dalene Weber for all her amazing photos.
